No Other Dog`

My Dog and Me
By: John Hiatt

When I was a little girl I would always imagine our house full of dogs. It was only a dream then because we were living in an apartment, which is very near at my school, where pets are not allowed. As time goes by, we all grew up, I am already a High School student while both of my sisters were already working, still I WANTED A DOG!

One Day, while my eldest sister and I where watching teleserye, we talked about owning a pet dog, a shih tzu in particular, it’s small, it barks a little, and it’s cute, that’s why we assumed that the owners of the apartment might allow us. I really pleaded to my sister to buy a dog, I started visualizing what would be our scenario if we already have a dog, eventually my sister finally said that she would buy one, if I would be so lucky to be allowed. In my excitement I already told her “Our dog’s name shall be koko” Why? (This one’s going to be funny) Because as she uttered the words “yes, I will be buying a dog” (in Filipino) the commercial on the television was the cereal, KOKO CRUNCH. So that’s it, how our pet dog got his name. To make the story short, we were allowed to own a dog as long as it would be really small, and it won’t create too much noise. After weeks, we already have COCO. Wait! What? Coco? So okay, let me explain. Our newly bought dog’s certificate coming from the Veterinarian states that his name is “Coco”. Instead of letter K it became letter C. Maybe because the one who wrote on the certificate is not my sister. Nevertheless, it is fine with me, in fact I could still connect the name to my life since I have a crush on Coco Martin. J JUSTIFIED!

Coco’s first few days were a struggle. (oh! And by the way Coco is a male) He was too quiet, He didn’t bark, he seemed to have no energy at all. We are all nervous, somehow panicked, that he might be sick. We called up his doctor and asked few things regarding his condition. The doctor said that he’s just a puppy he should not be exposed to too much heat and cold. We were all guilty about it, because from coco’s first night he slept at our room, and it’s air-conditioned.  :c We did some adjustments, my sister would always sleep with him downstairs. Until he finally grew his hair and he already did tolerate the temperature at our room, finally! I was able to sleep with him again.

Coco is now turning 3 this April 18. He’s such wonderful dog. I have so many memories with him, both the good and the bad. Yes, sometimes he bites me unexpectedly but only because I would always want to tease him, but I never had a serious wound because of him, when he bites it’s as if he is still controlling his actions. He may not be with us forever at least we have the chance to be together, that’s why we are making the most out of it. I often think that Coco has a crush on me HAHA!

No other dog could be so playful like he do
No other dog gets his toy whenever you say “Potpot!”
No other dog is banlag like he do
No other dog eats Nova, Piattos, Clover, Trolli like he do
No other dog knows when it’s DIAPER TIME (he gets up the table)
No other dog could be so energetic whenever he saw boys (which makes us confused with his gender)
No other dog could be the best for my family
It would still be, and would always be Coco.

Iloveyou cocopot! J
